Elon Musk is taking aim at journalists who make a living by covering the billionaire… They are muting their Twitter accounts.

The new owner of the bird app has suspended Twitter accounts for journalists from major news organizations such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN… plus freelance journalists and people who write for Mashable and The Intercept.

Donie O’Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of WaPo, Matt Binder of Mashable, Ryan Mac of the New York Times, Micah Lee of The Intercept, and Keith Olbermann and Aaron Rupar are among those who have lost their ability to tweet about Elon.

Many people who have been fired have been writing and tweeting negatively about Elon… but the fact is that Musk owns Twitter and can do whatever he wants with his private company.

Of course, Elon has claimed to be a champion of free speech, which some argue contradicts the suspensions of reporters.

When some of those banned reporters try to log in to their Twitter accounts, they get a message saying their account has been permanently suspended for violating Twitter rules.

Elon has been changing Twitter’s terms of service on the fly… and it’s unclear which rules the journalists allegedly broke in order to be suspended.
More accounts appear to be suspended.
