A Florida man has been arrested for making threats against US President Joe Biden, just days after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Jason Patrick Alday, 39, from Quincy, Florida, was arrested on Monday, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida. Alday is accused of sending threatening communications and making threats against President Biden and other federal officials.

The criminal complaint reveals that Alday made threatening statements about Biden while being admitted to a mental health facility in Tallahassee last month. He allegedly continued making threats in posts on social media platform X.

Alday has been ordered to remain in custody pending trial.

In a related incident, former President Trump was injured when a gunman opened fire at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last Saturday. Trump, 78, sustained a wound to his ear. A rally attendee was killed, and the 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead by Secret Service snipers.
