Manchester City has successfully secured the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for a transfer fee of €70 million. The 25-year-old forward has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029, with performance-based add-ons potentially increasing the deal by an additional £4 million.
Marmoush has been in stunning form this season, netting 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances, putting him just behind England captain Harry Kane, who leads the league with 16 goals for Bayern Munich. His impressive scoring record has made him one of the most sought-after talents in European football.
Expressing his excitement about joining Manchester City, Marmoush said, “Manchester City has been one of the world’s top clubs for the last decade, so making the decision to join them was easy. It’s a great honor for me and my family to represent this amazing club. We’re overjoyed, and I’m excited to see my dreams unfolding. The last two seasons have been fantastic, but I know this is just the beginning for me.”
Alongside Marmoush, City has made additional moves to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. The club has signed 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30 million and Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34 million.
Marmoush, known for his versatility, can play as a striker, an attacking midfielder, or a winger. He shared his thoughts on his playing style, saying, “I’m quick, have great ball control, and love finding space on the pitch, which makes me a threat to defenders. Above all, my strongest attribute is my relentless desire to win.”
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Marmoush’s all-around abilities, noting his exceptional pace and game intelligence. Begiristain also highlighted how the player’s versatility will be a huge asset to the team moving forward.
