Funke Akindele is choosing a different approach to Sunday worship—and for her, it simply makes more sense.
The actress and filmmaker recently shared that she no longer attends church in person. Instead, she joins services from home, and her reason is straightforward: the attention has become too much.
In a video posted on her Snapchat, Funke was seen going about her morning—making breakfast and getting her children ready for church. While they prepared to head out, she explained that she would be staying back and tuning in online.
According to her, attending church in person often turns into something else entirely. Rather than a quiet space to reflect, it becomes a moment where cameras are constantly on her. From media teams to fellow worshippers, the focus shifts, and it makes it difficult for her to truly settle into the service.
She put it plainly: whenever she shows up, the attention follows. So instead, she’s choosing the option that allows her to worship without distractions.
In a separate update, Funke also addressed a circulating video that suggested she ignored Fuji star Wasiu Pasuma at a public event. She dismissed the claim, saying the narrative being shared doesn’t reflect what actually happened.
