Gangsta Boo died at the age of 43.

According to FOX13, the pioneering Memphis rapper, Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, was found dead on Sunday afternoon. DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia appeared to confirm the tragic news by posting a photo of Gangsta Boo on Instagram.

One of the Three 6 Mafia members, Gangsta Boo, helped pave the road for female MCs. She joined the Memphis rap duo Three 6 in 1995 and appeared on all five of their albums, including their self-titled debut from that year. Three 6 also featured DJ Paul and Juicy J.

With her 1998 solo debut Enquiring Minds, which gave rise to the popular song “Where Dem Dollas At!?” she also enjoyed success. In 2002, soon after the release of her second album, Both Worlds *69, she parted ways with Three 6 Mafia. Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera, her third album, was released in 2003.

She has worked with a variety of musicians over the years, including Latto, who most recently enlisted her for her track “FTCU,” Run the Jewels, Gucci Mane, OutKast, and Eminem. When Latto learned of her passing, he tweeted “NOOOOO” and a crushed heart emoji.

Along with many others, Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, and Ty Dolla $ign paid tribute to the deceased on social media.

According to Rah Digga, Gangsta Boo “ALWAYS been among my top 5 female spitters.” “I can’t believe 2023 is off to such a bad start. A QUEEN, #RIP.
