Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, suggests that the outcome of the 2023-2024 Premier League title race might be determined before the final matchday of the season.

Neville predicts that Arsenal, currently leading the Premier League table, could stumble in their upcoming match this weekend, while Manchester City, their main title rival, is unlikely to drop points.

With Arsenal leading the league with 83 points in 36 games, just one point ahead of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand, the title race is intensifying.

Last weekend, Arsenal secured a crucial 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, maintaining their pursuit of the title. Similarly, Manchester City kept pace with a dominant 5-1 win against Wolves.

Looking ahead, Manchester City faces Fulham away on Saturday, May 11, a match they are expected to win convincingly. Meanwhile, Arsenal will visit Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday, May 12.

Neville believes that if Arsenal fails to secure a win or draw against Manchester United on Sunday following Manchester City’s victory over Fulham, and if City then triumphs over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, May 14, the title could be clinched by City before the final matchday.

Expressing his thoughts on his podcast, Neville highlights the significance of Arsenal winning at Old Trafford and the potential impact on the title race.

While Neville hopes for an extended title race, he fears that if Manchester City wins against Fulham and Manchester United takes points off Arsenal, the title race could effectively conclude.

Neville acknowledges Arsenal’s improved performance this season but suggests an air of inevitability about City’s form leading up to the end of the season.
