The FBI and the Pentagon are currently investigating the leak of classified U.S. intelligence regarding Israel’s potential plans for a retaliatory strike on Iran.

In a statement on Tuesday, the FBI confirmed their involvement, stating, “The FBI is investigating the alleged leak of classified documents and is working closely with partners in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.” Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details were provided.

The leaked documents, reportedly involving satellite imagery from the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency, appear to outline Israeli preparations for a retaliatory strike following Iran’s missile attack on Israel on October 1. However, no specific targets were mentioned in the documents.

These materials surfaced last week on the messaging app Telegram, shared by an account named Middle East Spectator.

Speaking on the matter, White House National Security spokesperson John Kirby noted that U.S. authorities remain unsure if the documents were leaked or obtained through a hack. “We’re not exactly sure how these documents ended up in the public domain,” Kirby explained, adding that the Department of Defense is working to determine how this classified information was exposed.

Kirby also emphasized that President Joe Biden is “deeply concerned” about such breaches of classified information, calling the situation unacceptable.
