Keeping your conversations private on WhatsApp is easy and can be especially helpful if you want to keep messages secure from prying eyes. For iPhone users, WhatsApp offers an option to lock the app using Face ID or Touch ID. Here’s a quick step-by-step on how to add this layer of privacy:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp Settings

  1. Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Settings icon located in the bottom-right corner.

Step 2: Access Privacy Settings

  1. In Settings, tap on Account to reach your account-related options.
  2. Select Privacy to adjust your privacy and security settings.

Step 3: Enable Face ID or Touch ID Lock

  1. Scroll to find Screen Lock in the Privacy menu.
  2. Choose Require Face ID or Require Touch ID, based on your iPhone model, and switch it on.

Step 4: Set the Auto-Lock Timing (Optional)
To control when WhatsApp asks for Face ID or Touch ID after you close it, select a timing option that fits your needs:

  • Immediately – Requires Face ID or Touch ID every time.
  • After 1 Minute – Activates Face ID or Touch ID after one minute of inactivity.
  • After 15 Minutes – Prompts Face ID or Touch ID after 15 minutes.
  • After 1 Hour – Locks after an hour of inactivity.

For the best security, choose Immediately.

Step 5: Test the Lock Feature
Close WhatsApp, then reopen it to ensure Face ID or Touch ID is working according to your chosen settings.

To Disable the Lock Feature
If you decide to turn off the lock, go back to Screen Lock in Privacy and switch off the Face ID or Touch ID option.

With these settings, you’re adding an extra layer of privacy to keep your WhatsApp conversations secure and private.
