Outgoing Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos, has affirmed his contentment with his choice to depart the club this summer. Despite his stellar performance in the recently concluded 2023-2024 season, Kroos decided to announce his retirement from professional football after the European Championship, scheduled to take place in his home country from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

Having made 48 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, contributing with a goal and 10 assists, the 34-year-old Kroos played his final game for the Spanish side on June 1, 2024. On that day, he provided an assist as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund to clinch their record-extending 15th Champions League title.

Following the game, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his hope that the German international would reconsider his decision and stay at the club beyond the summer. However, during the trophy parade at Cibeles Square in Madrid, Spain, on Sunday, Toni Kroos reiterated his determination not to reverse his decision to leave Real Madrid.

Addressing the Real Madrid fans, Kroos expressed his gratitude and stated, “I am going to miss you a lot. I am happy with my decision. I enjoyed every single minute of these 10 years. I will miss a lot of things, no doubt. I am happy with my decision. The Bernabeu is my home. Real Madrid fans are the best in the world.”
