Nigerian entrepreneur and influencer May Edochie has shared the story of how she first met her estranged husband, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, long before fame or marriage entered the picture.

Speaking on a recent lifestyle podcast, May revealed that their meeting wasn’t in a fancy setting or at a social event — it happened at a GCE (General Certificate Examination) centre during her early university days.

At the time, May had just moved from Lagos to begin her studies at Enugu State University, while Yul was a student at the University of Port Harcourt.

Describing her younger self, May said she was focused and deeply dedicated to her studies.

“Way back in school when I went to the East for university, I was a bookworm. It’s always been about books for me. We didn’t meet at a party or anything glamorous — we met at a GCE centre,” she recalled.

In another development, Nollywood actress Anita Joseph has responded to allegations made by May’s former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, who accused her of arranging fake awards and ambassadorial deals for May.

Emeka’s claims surfaced in a viral video, following a ₦1.5 billion lawsuit filed against him by May for alleged defamation and cyberbullying.

Anita, reacting via Instagram, dismissed the allegations, insisting that every recognition May received was genuine and well-deserved. She questioned why Emeka continued to attack his former client, describing his actions as unprofessional and unnecessary.
