Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize progress for the benefit of the country. In her Independence Day message, she expressed concern over the nation’s untapped potential despite its vast human and natural resources.

Kingibe reflected on the struggles many Nigerians face, including poverty, insecurity, and limited access to essential services. She noted that corruption and poor governance have significantly weakened the nation’s institutions.

“As the FCT Senator, I join my fellow citizens in marking this significant milestone. Today, we reflect on our journey as a nation. While we are blessed with abundant resources, our progress has been hindered by various challenges that continue to hold us back,” she said.

She acknowledged the hardships of many citizens and the historical trials faced by Nigeria’s founding leaders. “Despite the difficulties, our founding leaders had the vision and strength to lead the country toward unity and prosperity. We must draw from their legacy as we move forward.”

Senator Kingibe encouraged Nigerians to maintain hope for the future, believing that with determination and good leadership, the country can overcome its current challenges. “I remain optimistic about our future. Our people are resilient, and we’ve made progress in several sectors. But we need sincere leadership, focused on steering Nigeria in the right direction.”

She called on all Nigerians to recommit themselves to the work of nation-building, emphasizing unity, justice, and sustainable development. “As we celebrate this anniversary, let’s prioritize equity and justice, while pushing for growth in all sectors. With God’s grace and our collective efforts, we can transform Nigeria into the country we all envision,” Kingibe added.
