Actor Jamie Foxx faces accusations of sexual assault in a recently filed lawsuit in a New York court, just before the expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act. This state law enables adults who claim to be victims of sexual abuse to file civil lawsuits, seeking damages regardless of the statute of limitations.

The lawsuit, dated Monday and received by the New York State Courts e-filing system on Wednesday, comes from a woman identified as Jane Doe. She alleges that on August 26, 2015, at Catch NYC & Roof, a rooftop bar in Manhattan, Foxx groped her after she asked for a photo. Foxx’s response, as per the suit, was, “Sure baby, anything for you.” The woman claimed she suffered extreme emotional distress and sought medical care, stating she was “rendered sick, sore, lame, and disabled.”

At the time of the alleged incident, Foxx was reportedly in a relationship with Katie Holmes, although reports suggest they broke up in 2019. Earlier this year, Foxx faced a “medical complication” during the filming of “Back in Action” and spent time in the hospital. While details remain undisclosed, Foxx mentioned his emergency took him to “hell and back” in July.

Representatives for Foxx, Catch, and the woman’s attorney did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
