Katy Perry has revealed that she has been sober for five weeks and has made a no-alcohol pact with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom.
The singer and “American Idol” judge stated that she and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor agreed to abstain from alcohol for three months.
“I’ve been sober for five weeks today,” she told People on Monday at a curated cocktail event at New York’s Mister Paradise.
“I’ve been doing a pact with my partner [Bloom] and I want to quit,” she joked, wiping her tears away.
When fellow “American Idol” judge Luke Bryan asked if she was going to have a drink, the “Teenage Dream” singer quickly said no.
“No way, girl! I’m not going to give in. I made a commitment. “Three months,” she said, alluding to her “pact” with Bloom.
The “Never Really Over” singer, who co-founded a line of non-alcoholic apéritifs last year, began dating the actor in January 2016.
However, in March 2017, they announced via their representatives that they were “taking a respectful, loving space at this time.”
Perry later revealed that she was on the verge of suicidal ideation when they called it quits.
Later that year, they reconciled and rekindled their love.
The couple first appeared on the red carpet in September 2018 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
The “Roar” singer announced her pregnancy with the couple’s first child in March 2020, debuting her baby bump in her “Never Worn White” music video.
Perry announced the birth of their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020.
While the couple’s relationship may appear to be without hitches, Bloom recently opened up about the difficulties they’ve had to overcome in order to be together.
Bloom told Flaunt magazine in a cover story last month, “We’re in two very different pools.”
“Her pool is not one I necessarily understand, and I believe mine is not one she necessarily understands.” Things can be really, really, really difficult at times.”
The most difficult aspect of their union, according to Bloom, is juggling their busy work schedules while being separated for long periods of time.
“I’m not going to lie. We definitely struggle with our emotions and creativity, but I think we’re both aware of how fortunate we are to have connected in the way that we did at the time we, and there’s never a dull moment,” he added.
