Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party, recently made a startling revelation. He claimed that the party had approached him with an $800 million bribe in an attempt to convince him to withdraw from the race. However, Agyapong firmly declined this tempting offer.
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central asserted that his love for Ghana took precedence over personal gain. He went on record during an interview on Time 97.7 FM in Kumasi, refuting allegations that he had demanded $500 million from the NPP as a condition for stepping out of the contest. Moreover, he revealed that several prominent party members had reached out to him in an effort to persuade him to reconsider his candidacy for the flagbearer position.
Agyapong expressed his astonishment at where the NPP could have acquired such a substantial sum as the alleged $800 million. He pointed out that during the 2016 campaign, the party had faced financial constraints to the extent that they couldn’t even afford basic campaign necessities like motorbikes.

Furthermore, he confidently stated that his strong sense of patriotism and a wealth of innovative solutions are poised to contribute to Ghana’s transformation, envisioning a brighter future for the nation if there were more individuals like him.
Kennedy Agyapong’s revelation that he was allegedly approached with a staggering $800 million has sparked widespread reactions. It has left many Ghanaians astounded that a ruling political party would extend such a substantial offer to dissuade him from participating in its presidential primaries, especially in the midst of a struggling national economy and the hardship faced by citizens.
