Veteran Ghanaian actor, Kofi Adjorlolo, has voiced concerns about Ghanaian TV stations airing Nigerian movies without proper authorization on local channels.
The esteemed actor, celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Ghana’s film industry, criticized this practice, highlighting its adverse effects on both the Ghanaian film industry and the rights of Nigerian filmmakers.
During an interview on Hit FM’s DayBreak Hitz, Adjorlolo condemned Ghanaian television stations for broadcasting Nigerian movies without permission, citing its detrimental impact on Ghanaian actors and the industry as a whole.
He expressed disappointment with this trend, noting that it leads to Nigerian producers overlooking Ghanaian actors because of the widespread distribution of their movies in Ghana.
Currently working on a project in Nigeria, Adjorlolo revealed that many Nigerian producers are displeased with Ghanaian TV stations and streaming platforms that upload Nigerian films without proper authorization.
He stressed the financial losses faced by Ghanaian actors and urged local channels to refrain from unauthorized distribution, emphasizing the importance of adhering to international copyright and intellectual property laws.
Adjorlolo’s statements underscore the critical importance of respecting copyright regulations and safeguarding intellectual property rights within the entertainment sector. Unauthorized airing of Nigerian movies not only infringes upon the rights of Nigerian filmmakers but also undermines the legitimacy of legal content distribution channels.
