John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former minister of trade and industry, is not qualified to serve as the party’s flagbearer, according to Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party. Dr. Tamakloe claims that despite the fact that he would have personally picked Kyerematen to be the flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election, the fact that he was unable to quit the Akuffo-Addo government owing to improper behavior eliminates him as a credible candidate.
Dr. Tamakloe said, “I personally would have selected Alan Kyerematen should have taken the necessary action earlier which he didn’t do and in my opinion, I have disqualified him.”
Dr. Tamakloe gave an explanation. Alan Kyerematen has been a member of the party for a very long time, he continued. They were the young individuals who stayed behind after us.
After hearing counsel, he resigned in favor of Akuffo-Addo. He cannot persuade me that he was unaware of the various violations that took place while he was a minister because he was a cabinet minister.
Alan Kyerematen ought to have had the guts to remark that it is incorrect unless they all just sat down and listened to Akuffo-Addo speak. He should have taken the initiative to quit if the government didn’t agree with him. Therefore, I think he lacks the culture of resignation, and it is this culture that can help us find a decent leader.
