Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe celebrated a significant milestone on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, by winning the 2024 FIFA International Cup—two years after his heartbreaking loss in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final at the same venue.

Recall that two years ago, Lusail Stadium hosted the World Cup final where Mbappe’s France team fell to Lionel Messi’s Argentina in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a 3-3 draw in regulation time.

In Wednesday’s FIFA International Cup, Mbappe, who recently returned from an injury, delivered an impressive performance, scoring a crucial goal as Real Madrid secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Pachuca, a Mexican professional football club.

This triumph not only marked his return to top form but also brought an emotional return to Doha for the first time since that memorable World Cup final. Following the one-sided international club match, the France international took to Instagram to express his joy and pride, emphasizing the significance of the win and the prestigious tournament.

He wrote, “The Intercontinental Cup is back in Madrid. Second title of the season. This time I won at Lusail Stadium… #HalaMadrid.”
