The biggest acting honours of the night have been decided, and two names stood firmly at the centre of it all—Uzor Arukwe and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman.
At the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, held at Eko Hotel and Suites and hosted by Bovi Ugboma alongside Nomzamo Mbatha, the industry gathered for a night that celebrated some of the most powerful screen performances of the year.
Uzor Arukwe walked away with the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Colours of Fire, directed by Niyi Akinmolayan. In the film, he takes on the role of a warrior caught between duty and emotion, delivering a performance layered with intensity and restraint. It’s a win that adds another strong chapter to his AMVCA journey, following previous nominations in both supporting and comedy categories over the years.
On the female acting side, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman delivered one of the most talked-about moments of the night. She first picked up Best Supporting Actress for The Herd, before returning later to claim Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift. With two major wins in a single evening, she joins a small group of performers who have achieved a double acting victory within the same awards cycle.
It was a tightly contested year across film and television, but by the end of the ceremony, both Arukwe and Ejiofor-Suleiman stood out as defining forces of the night.
In a year filled with strong performances, the spotlight ultimately settled on two names that clearly left a lasting mark.
