Luka Modric Extends Real Madrid Contract Until 2025
Real Madrid has extended the contract of veteran midfielder Luka Modric for one more season. This new deal means Modric will remain with the club until June 30, 2025, by which time he will have turned 39.
Before agreeing to stay at Santiago Bernabéu, Modric was reportedly courted by Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah and several Major League Soccer clubs. However, he chose to continue his illustrious career with Real Madrid for another season.
A statement on the club’s website confirmed the news: “Real Madrid CF and Luka Modric have agreed to extend the contract of our captain, who remains tied to the club until June 30, 2025. Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012, and in his twelve seasons defending our shirt, he has become a legend of Real Madrid and world football.”
Since joining Real Madrid in 2012, Modric has made 534 appearances, scored 39 goals, and provided 86 assists. The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has been instrumental in securing four La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and six Champions League titles for the club.
In other transfer news, Spain’s national team captain Álvaro Morata has left Atletico Madrid to join AC Milan. Morata has signed a contract with the Italian side that will keep him at San Siro until June 30, 2028, with an option for a one-year extension.
“I can’t wait to get started,” the 31-year-old Spanish striker said on the club’s official website after completing the move.
