Nigerian Man Fatally Attacked in Alleged Blasphemy Case.

In a disturbing incident, a Muslim man named Usman Buda was brutally attacked and killed by a mob in northern Nigeria. Usman, employed as a butcher at the Sokoto city abattoir, was targeted by a group of individuals who allegedly inflicted severe injuries on him. According to Sokoto State police spokesman Ahmad Rufa’i, the assailants fled the scene before the police arrived, leaving Usman unconscious and in critical condition.

The police promptly intervened and rushed Usman to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities are now actively seeking the alleged perpetrators responsible for this senseless act of violence.

According to reports, the incident stemmed from a disagreement involving child beggars who had approached Usman for money. Witness testimonies suggest that Usman became involved after expressing disapproval toward the children. It was during this altercation that he made alleged blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammad, leading to the tragic escalation of events.

A deeply disturbing video circulating on social media captures the horrifying scene as a mob pelts Usman with stones, causing him to stumble and fall repeatedly.

In response to this disturbing incident, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has urged the people of the state to remain calm, and law-abiding, and refrain from engaging in any actions that could disrespect the revered figure of Prophet Muhammad.

It is disheartening to note that this is not the first instance of religiously motivated violence in Sokoto. In May of the previous year, a female student was tragically attacked and killed by fellow Muslim students at her college. Her assailants even went to the extent of setting her body on fire, accusing her of blasphemy.

Such incidents highlight the importance of fostering understanding, tolerance, and respect among different religious communities. The loss of innocent lives in the name of religious differences is a grave tragedy that should compel society to work toward peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
