Manchester United has parted ways with their Dutch manager, Erik Ten Hag, following a 2-1 loss to West Ham, which turned out to be his final match with the club.
The club released a statement expressing appreciation for Ten Hag’s contributions and confirming that former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy will step in as interim head coach. “Erik Ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United’s men’s first-team manager. We’re grateful for his efforts and wish him the best moving forward,” the statement read. “Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead the team as interim head coach, with support from the current coaching staff, while we search for a permanent replacement.”
Ten Hag’s future was uncertain after last season’s underwhelming finish, marking one of United’s lowest Premier League standings. However, under the new leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club extended his contract for another year before ultimately deciding to make a change.
