In 2012, music maestro Don Jazzy unveiled Mavin Records, a game-changing record label. Fast forward to yesterday, Mavin Records marked 12 years of shaping African music entertainment.

The label’s journey has been remarkable. Don Jazzy, leveraging the triumph of Mo Hits Records, envisioned a vibrant future for Afrobeats. Mavin Records emerged as a hub for talented artists, producers, and industry trailblazers, shaping Afrobeats into more than just a genre, but an entire industry.

Over the years, Mavin Records has nurtured both iconic and emerging talents. It kickstarted the careers of Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, and Korede Bello in the early 2010s. Presently, it fosters stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Bayanni, Boy Spyce, Lifesize Teddy, and DJ Big N, boasting a knack for discovering and nurturing talent.

But Mavin Records isn’t solely about vocalists. In 2022, they bolstered their team with skilled producers and songwriters like Andre Vibez, Jvxn, Mbryo, and Milar, ensuring a diverse pool of creative minds for producing outstanding music.

Looking forward, Mavin Records remains steadfast in its momentum. Through the innovative Mavin Future Five program, they actively mold the next generation of music industry leaders, offering mentorship and hands-on experience to lay a robust foundation for Afrobeats and the wider music scene.

Don Jazzy, Mavin Records’ founder, reflected on the label’s anniversary, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to their success:

“This year marks a significant milestone. We appreciate everyone who played a part in our journey over the past 12 years. Together, we’re building a legacy—for Nigeria, for Africa, and for the global music community.”

Tega Oghenejobo, Mavin Records’ Chief Operating Officer, echoed this sentiment:

“We’re proud of our achievements as a team, yet our ambitions remain high. There’s more to be done as we continue to unearth talent, expand our reach, and contribute to Africa’s development and its immensely gifted populace.”

Mavin Records celebrating 12 years is a pivotal moment in the African music landscape, with a promising future ahead.

Most recently, Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music label, acquired a majority stake in Mavin Records in a multi-million-dollar deal. This acquisition underscores Mavin Records’ remarkable success and solidifies its position as Nigeria’s premier record label.
