“I need my mom to reach a point where she doesn’t care what I spend my money on,” she remarked.

Even with Ayra Starr’s rise to fame, her mother’s protective instincts remain intact.

During an interview on the Beat 99.9FM, the singer revealed that her mother continues to play an active role in her life despite her increasing celebrity status. She highlighted her mother’s typical Nigerian demeanor, explaining that her mom is deeply concerned about her well-being and whereabouts.

Despite her celebrity status, Ayra Starr discussed her mother’s protective nature, highlighting that certain aspects of her life still reflect the typical dynamics of a Nigerian family. The singer humorously recounted moments when her mother would call late at night to ensure her safety during events and performances.

“My mom still calls me at 2:00 a.m. If I have a show she’d call me and be like ‘You’re still there? You haven’t left?’ and I’d be like ‘Mummy I have a show. They paid me to be here,’ then she’d tell me ‘Just make sure you go home and be careful,” she shared.

The musician opened up about her perspective on luxury items and the enduring influence of her Nigerian mother on her decisions, revealing her minimal interest in luxury possessions.

“To be honest, I don’t really prioritize cars and such. There’s this bag I have my eye on. It’s not like I can’t afford it. It’s just that I want my mom to reach a point where she doesn’t micromanage my spending. If I try to buy it now, she’ll question why I spent so much on a bag. She’s very much like a typical Nigerian mom,” shared Ayra Starr.

Starr vividly described her mother’s care, mentioning how she consistently checks in on her well-being, inquires about her sleep, and even contacts her managers to ensure her safety.
