The rapper, 23, has been confined to his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he is currently under house arrest. He lives with his new wife, Jazlyn Mychelle, whom he married in early 2023, and their two children, 17-month-old Alice and his newborn son, Klemenza.
In a new interview with Billboard, the reclusive star opens up about his personal life and reveals that after his ankle monitor is removed, he plans to be officially baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His introduction to the Mormon faith began when Mormon missionaries paid him a visit. He turned them away the first time they came by his house in late 2022 but welcomed them the second time.
“I desperately needed assistance. I needed a companion. “And it hit me,” he said. “It was just cool to see someone with a different mindset that wasn’t about business or money — just these wonderful souls.”
The missionaries talk to him about the Book of Mormon, and he thanks them for helping him “make sure my heart is in the right place.”
“Even when my negative thoughts return and I want to tell them, ‘Not today,’ I just don’t let anything stop me,” he explained.
The prolific rapper, who released eight full-length projects last year, released I Rest My Case, his first for Motown Records, earlier this month. He admits to having a music-dropping addiction.
He called it a disease. “I literally can’t stop myself. I tell myself all the time, ‘I’m not going to quit for months,’ but it’s addictive. I wish I had known how bad this was for me when I was younger. Whatever energy I had inside me, I would have directed it elsewhere.”
However, music has helped him get through difficult times. “Music is therapy for me, but I can’t stop it whenever I want,” he explained. “And the lifestyle is merely a diversion from your true purpose.”
