Authorities in central Nigeria’s Plateau state have confirmed the arrest of nine individuals linked to the recent surge of violence in the Mangu area.

Reports indicate that at least 50 individuals lost their lives during two days of clashes between communities.

Armed assailants targeted villages near Mangu town on Wednesday, following incidents where mosques and churches were set ablaze amid confrontations between two opposing ethnic factions.

Nigerian military spokesperson, General Edward Buba, disclosed that special forces have been dispatched to key trouble spots within the state to manage the escalating situation.
