The All Progressives Congress has won ten of the thirteen local government areas in Rivers State that the Independent National Electoral Commission has so far collated for last Saturday’s presidential election.

Ikwerre, the LGA of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, is one of the 13 seats won by the APC.

Prof. James Kpolovie, the Collation Officer for Ikwerre LGA, disclosed this while presenting the results to the state collation officer, Prof Charles Adias, at the INEC office in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Amaechi was notably absent from the APC’s pre-election presidential rally in Port Harcourt.

According to the results, the APC received 9,609 votes, defeating the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, which received 8,752 and 4,869 votes, respectively, to finish second and third.
Opobo/Nkoro, Asari-Toru, Abua-Odual, Bonny, Omuma, Gokana, Emuoha, Eleme, Tai, and Akuku-Toru are the other LGAs won by the APC so far.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party has won three local government areas: Bonny, Ahoada West, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni.

The PDP, for its part, has won three LGAs so far: Andoni, Okrika, and Ogu/Bolo.

Prof Dias, the state Collation Officer for INEC, has called for a break until the remaining LGAs, including Governor Nyesom Wike’s Obio/Akpor, cast their ballots.
