Joe Biden will miss King Charles III’s coronation. The ceremony will take place in early May, but reports indicate that the US president will not be present.

Despite plans to visit Northern Ireland next month, Biden is expected to return to the United States just days before King Charles arrives to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Who will travel to London in Biden’s place?

Biden is expected to invite either First Lady Jill Clinton or Vice President Kamala Harris to the coronation on May 6.

“We believe the representative will be the first lady or the vice president,” a Daily Mail source said.

“For the Queen, it was the Governor of California and the Chief of Staff of the United States Army.”

According to The Daily, the British ambassador to the US, Dame Karen Pierce, and Buckingham Palace officials had been in “cordial and diplomatic” talks with the US government to organize the delegation.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to the ceremony but have yet to confirm whether or not they will travel to the UK for the coronation.

“Archie’s birthday falls on coronation day, May 6th, and the Sussexes want the family to recognize that,” a source told OK! last month.

“The Sussexes have requested that some sort of celebration or acknowledgment be included in the day’s plans to ensure that his fourth birthday is not overlooked.”

“They want their children to spend time with other family members, especially their cousin August, who is Lilibet’s age.” Both couples get along great and want their children to be close.”
