Jude Bellingham Handed Two-Match Ban as Real Madrid Plans Appeal
Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham has been handed a two-game suspension following his exchange with referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero during a recent La Liga clash against Osasuna, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The midfielder was shown a straight red card in the first half, with the referee’s report alleging that Bellingham used inappropriate language. While the England international denied any misconduct, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) upheld the decision and imposed a two-match ban. This means Bellingham will be unavailable for crucial fixtures against Girona and Real Betis.
Real Madrid has announced plans to appeal the ruling, arguing that while Bellingham’s reaction was intense, it did not warrant such a harsh punishment. The club believes the suspension is excessive and hopes to see the decision overturned.
Courtois Reflects on His Career Path
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has opened up about his career choices, shedding light on why he never joined Manchester United.
Speaking in an interview with former United defender Rio Ferdinand, Courtois revealed that the club’s signing of David de Gea in 2011 played a key role in shaping his journey.
“At that time, I was at Genk, starting to make a name for myself,” Courtois shared. “But when United brought in David, it naturally influenced my decision.”
The Belgian shot-stopper attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but ultimately opted for Chelsea, who he felt had the best long-term vision for his development.
Looking back, Courtois acknowledged that De Gea’s move to Manchester United allowed him the opportunity to go on loan to Atlético Madrid. “That transfer shaped me into the goalkeeper I am today,” he reflected.
Now regarded as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, Courtois has enjoyed success at Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid, winning multiple league titles and Champions League trophies along the way.
