According to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), 19 soldiers kidnapped by rebels in the Central African Republic in February have been freed.
According to an ICRC official, the group, which was apprehended during a raid in the country’s north, was scheduled to arrive in the northern town of Birao before being transferred to the capital, Bangui.

The Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC), an alliance of rebel groups, was blamed last month for an attack on a gold mine that killed nine Chinese workers.
Wagner, a Russian mercenary group, was blamed by the insurgents. Its fighters have been hired to assist the government in defeating the insurgents.
