Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Reveal Unique Name for Their Second Child
The world finally knows the name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s second child, a month after the singer gave birth. The couple has named their son Riot Rose Mayers, as per the birth certificate obtained by the Blast on Thursday.
The name “Riot” might be a subtle reference to A$AP’s track “Riot,” which dropped in July and featured Pharrell Williams. This name continues their tradition of choosing names that start with the letter “R.” Their first son, born in May 2022, was named RZA Athelston Mayers.
According to the birth certificate, Rihanna gave birth on August 1, 2023, at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, not on August 3 as previously reported. For her obstetrician-gynecologist, she opted for Thais Aliabadi, a renowned figure in the celebrity world who has also helped deliver babies for Al Pacino and his girlfriend Noor Alfallah, including their son, Roman.

Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, had previously revealed that the couple had considered “a few names” for their first child but kept them a secret, joking that Rihanna would be displeased if he spilled the beans.
Rihanna managed to keep her second pregnancy a well-guarded secret until her Super Bowl 2023 halftime show, where she confirmed the news by cradling her growing belly in a red outfit. As for RZA, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky had shared glimpses of their firstborn on social media since his arrival in May 2022 and even featured him in an adorable Vogue spread. However, they kept his name under wraps until May 2023.
While Rihanna had never officially disclosed the name before, she had subtly hinted at it by wearing clothing that paid homage to producer and rapper RZA, who leads the Wu-Tang Clan. The name Riot Rose Mayers also pays tribute to Rocky’s middle name, Athelaston.
Before becoming parents, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky had a long-standing friendship and collaboration, which eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship in 2020.
