Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) shared intriguing insights during his appearance on “King of Talks,” hosted by Teju Babyface. Beyond the usual movie chatter, RMD delved into the delicate realm of religion, particularly addressing what he perceives as hypocrisy within churches.

But RMD didn’t stop there. He also opened up about his personal perspectives on God and Christianity, diverging from conventional beliefs. Unafraid to stir the pot, he seemed intent on igniting thought-provoking conversations with his unorthodox viewpoints.

“My take on Christ’s relevance in today’s world and how we should embrace it might not align with tradition. Yet, I believe the Lord placed me here for a reason,” he shared. “I tend to spark controversy wherever I go, but I think I’m meant for such a time as this, to challenge norms unconventionally.”

He also touched on the role of faith in various professions. “I’ve been drawn to discussions about faith and stardom. Why? Because Christians often overlook excellence in unconventional fields like distilling. They believe such endeavors clash with Christian values. But why? It’s a craft,” RMD remarked.

RMD emphasized what he considers the cornerstone of Christianity: inclusivity. He advocated for churches to embrace individuals exactly as they are, faults and all.

“People in Christ’s time were artisans, vintners, and more. They could follow Christ without sacrificing their professions. That’s the essence of Christianity: embracing people as they are,” he emphasized.

“People should be welcomed as they are. Their transformation begins when they come, not before. Let them come, and then let them navigate society in a way that draws others to Christ, free from hypocrisy. That, I believe, is one of the major challenges facing today’s churches,” he concluded.
