Tottenham Hotspur’s 30-year-old forward Son Heung-min scores against Brighton for a place in the history books.

Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur became the first Asian footballer to score 100 goals in the English Premier League on Saturday.

“Heung-Min Son becomes the first Asian player to score 100 Premier League goals.” “Congratulations, Sonny,” Tottenham Hotspur tweeted in honor of their forward.

Son, a Spurs regular since 2015, scored his 100th league goal in the first half against Brighton & Hove Albion at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, curling outside the area past Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele.

The 30-year-old South Korean international had previously played for German clubs Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen before joining the English club.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Brighton 2-1, with Harry Kane scoring the game-winning goal in the 79th minute.

Spurs are fifth in the table with 53 points from 30 games, trailing Manchester United and Newcastle United, both of whom have 56 points.

Brighton is seventh with 46 points after their loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Under normal circumstances, the top four Premier League clubs will secure places in next season’s UEFA Champions League groups once the 2022-23 Premier League season concludes in May after matchday 38.

Arsenal leads the table with 72 points after 29 games, followed by Manchester City with 64.
