A-listers opted for stylish two-pieces with bold prints, sequins, and even mounds of tulle instead of the traditional glitzy gown or standard tuxedo. In other words, these suits were designed to command the paparazzi, not a fluorescently lit boardroom.
The most appropriate moments of the year were those that leaned into a maximalist spirit. Ana de Armas, for example, made a splash in New York while promoting her film Blonde by wearing a sequined Brunello Cucinelli three-piece suit that shimmered all the way down to the waistcoat. Keke Palmer wore Act N.1’s black suit with piles of electric blue tulle on it to the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, an unexpected design that turned heads.
