Leicester City has named Steve Cooper as their new manager following their return to the Premier League. The club had been searching for a replacement after Enzo Maresca, who led them to promotion, moved to Chelsea earlier this month.
Steve Cooper, a 44-year-old Welsh coach, brings experience from his previous roles with Nottingham Forest and Swansea City. Cooper signed a three-year contract with Leicester City today, June 30, 2024, committing to the club until 2027.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Cooper said, “I am really excited and proud to be appointed Leicester City’s first-team manager. This is a fantastic club with a rich history and passionate supporters. I am excited to work with such a talented squad and look forward to the challenge of achieving our shared ambitions in the Premier League.”
Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha welcomed Cooper, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Steve to Leicester City. His vision for the team, including his ability to develop players and implement a dynamic style of play, aligns with our aspirations for the club. As a leader, he will strengthen the bond between our fans and our team, which is crucial for re-establishing the club in the Premier League.”
With Cooper at the helm, Leicester City aims to solidify its position in the top tier of English football.
