The Premier League weekend delivered drama, debut goals, and standout performances as Bournemouth, Brentford, and Burnley all claimed their first wins of the season.

At the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth edged past Wolves 1-0 thanks to a stroke of luck and sharp finishing. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s misplaced pass gifted Antoine Semenyo possession near the box, and his quick link-up with Marcus Tavernier ended with a deflected strike that clipped the bar before bouncing in. The Cherries nearly doubled their lead when Semenyo rattled the woodwork, while Wolves came close through Jorgen Strand Larsen, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Djordje Petrovic. Any hopes of a Wolves comeback disappeared after Toti Gomes saw red for dragging down Evanilson as the last man. Despite late pressure, Bournemouth held firm to secure three deserved points.

Brentford fans were treated to a debut worth remembering at the Gtech Community Stadium. New signing Dango Ouattara, brought in for a club-record fee, wasted no time in making his mark. After his first effort was parried by Emiliano Martinez, the Burkina Faso winger reacted quickly to slot home the rebound, sealing a hard-fought 1-0 win over Aston Villa. A stunning volley from Mikkel Damsgaard looked to have doubled the advantage, but VAR intervened. Still, Brentford held on, with goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher commanding at the back to secure victory in Keith Andrews’ first home game in charge.

Meanwhile at Turf Moor, Burnley bounced back in style with a 2-0 victory over fellow newcomers Sunderland. After a cagey first half, captain Josh Cullen broke the deadlock just minutes after the restart, curling in a smart finish following Jaidon Anthony’s clever flick. Anthony later turned finisher, latching onto Cullen’s through ball before rounding the keeper to score Burnley’s second. Sunderland pushed for a response but were undone by Burnley’s sharp counterattacks and failed to beat Martin Dubravka in goal.

It was a weekend of turning points—Tavernier’s deflection, Ouattara’s fairytale debut, and Cullen’s captain’s display—signaling that these clubs are ready to fight hard this season.
