In the shooting trial involving Tory Lanez, both parties have finally rested their cases; the jury will now decide the singer’s fate.
After nine days of testimony, the jury began deliberations on Thursday. Wednesday afternoon saw the beginning of the prosecution’s closing arguments. Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott made one more attempt to persuade the jury that Tory shot Megan Thee Stallion, claiming the case was simply about “a person who shot a girl, then apologized for it.”
Tory’s “bruised ego” was another factor cited by the prosecution as to why he shot Meg.
Kelsey Harris was the target of the defense’s closing argument, which also called Megan a liar and implied that Tory was attempting to save the day in the moments following the shooting.
In an effort to maintain her position as a leader in the music industry, the defense also made the case that Megan lied about Tory.
The jury’s sample verdict form, which has been circulating online as purported evidence of Tory’s guilt or innocence, is also something we’ve obtained. However, the jury has not yet reached a conclusion, so the form is simply a guide.
If a judgment is not reached today, the jury’s deliberations may go into the following week because the judge is allowing them to choose whether or not to return to the courtroom on Friday, the day before Christmas Eve.
