Victor Osimhen’s penalty may have handed Galatasaray a big win over Liverpool on Tuesday night, but football legend Thierry Henry feels the striker’s choices on the pitch could have made the scoreline even more convincing.
Osimhen calmly converted from the spot to secure a 1–0 victory at Rams Park, marking Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s first real setback in the Champions League. Still, Henry, speaking as a pundit on CBS Sports, pointed out moments where the Nigerian forward could have created better chances for his teammates.
“There were times he could have released the ball instead of going for it himself,” Henry said. “If he had done that, they might have scored more. But credit to him—the penalty was taken perfectly.”
Henry also praised Galatasaray’s overall display, describing it as a performance full of grit and determination.
“On their day, they can beat anyone,” he added. “At home, with that atmosphere, they’re dangerous. They fought for everything, and their counter-attacks were spot on.”
The former Arsenal striker noted that he had backed the Turkish champions to cause problems for Liverpool even before kick-off—and the result, in his eyes, proved exactly that.
