Her alma university revealed that the legendary Texas Longhorns star and former WNBA player had died following a cancer battle.

Her age was just 37.

The former UT forward, who was given a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, passed away from the illness, the Texas women’s basketball team said Monday evening.

Tiffany was a significant player and had a fantastic career, according to Jody Conradt, her former UT coach.

“She was well known for having a strong all-around game, being incredibly mobile, and being able to play numerous positions. Her teammates loved her, and we are all saddened by her passing.”

Jackson was a basketball superstar in high school, capturing a state championship and the Gatorade Player of the Year honor.

After graduating from high school, she continued to receive honors. From 2003 to 2007, she attended UT, where she received the ESPN National Freshman of the Year title and set a school record by amassing 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals, and 150 blocks.

In the course of her 9-year career, Jackson, who was chosen fifth overall in the 2007 WNBA Draft, played for the New York Liberty, Tulsa Shock, and Los Angeles Sparks.

She returned to the Longhorns in her post-retirement role as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. Then, in April of this year, she was appointed the HC at Wiley College, landing her first head coaching position.

Current UT head coach Vic Schaefer remarked, “I know she was really happy to be the head coach at Wiley College for the following season.”

“Many people will sadly miss her. Her family has our sincere condolences.”

Tamika Catchings, one of the WNBA players who paid tribute to Jackson, described her as “simply fantastic.”

She will be missed for her smile, presence, and heart for others.
