Nigerian President to Attend Global Summit in Paris: Focus on Financial Support and Investment for Vulnerable Countries
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria is scheduled to travel to Paris, France on Tuesday, where he will join world leaders in a two-day summit starting on Thursday. The summit aims to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that prioritizes support and investment for vulnerable countries facing the devastating impacts of climate change, energy crises, and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement was made by Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, through a statement. The summit will address various aspects, including restoring fiscal space for countries with immediate financial challenges, mobilizing innovative financing for nations vulnerable to climate change, promoting development in low-income countries, and encouraging investments in green infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
President Tinubu, along with other global leaders, multilateral institutions, financial experts, and economists, will take a comprehensive approach to address the recovery of economies from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing poverty rates. The focus will be on providing access to finance and investment that can drive inclusive growth.
The summit, hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France, will take place at Palais Brongniart. President Tinubu will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials. He is expected to return to Abuja on Saturday.
