West African nation is joining international efforts ‘to heal wounds, participate in reconstruction,’ says Togolese diplomatic source

Togo announced on Thursday that it has donated $1.5 million to help Turkey recover from the devastating earthquakes that struck the country’s south on Feb. 6.

According to the Togolese Republic’s website, “Togo joins the international mobilization” by making “this contribution to heal the wounds and participate in the reconstruction” of Türkiye following the twin earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people.

The Turkish embassy expressed gratitude to the West African country for its “solidarity and friendship.”

It also stated that on March 21, Togo’s embassy in Ankara participated in a reforestation operation with Turkish authorities and citizens.

The operation entails establishing a “February 6 Earthquake Martyrs Memorial Forest” in each of the country’s 81 provinces to honor the earthquake victims.
