53-year-old departs ‘by mutual agreement,’ Cristian Stellini announced as acting head coach

Antonio Conte, the Italian manager of Tottenham Hotspur, left the London club on Sunday after 16 months in charge.

“We can confirm that Head Coach Antonio Conte has agreed to leave the Club. In Antonio’s first season at the Club, we qualified for the Champions League. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him the best of luck in the future “Tottenham released in a statement.

Spurs named Cristian Stellini as acting head coach for the rest of the season, joining Ryan Mason as an assistant.

Tottenham is currently fourth in the Premier League table and is in desperate need of a win. They trail leaders Arsenal, who are also their archrivals, by 20 points.

Spurs have recently been eliminated from all cup competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham has not won a trophy in 15 years, having last won the League Cup in 2008.

Last season, the London club finished fourth in the Premier League, securing a spot in this season’s Champions League.

Conte, 53, took office in 2021. He led Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2017 and has also won Italian league titles with Juventus and Inter Milan.
