South Africans are mourning the loss of actor Mpho Sebeng, who tragically passed away in a car accident on Sunday.

The 30-year-old actor’s family confirmed his untimely death in a statement, requesting privacy to process the devastating news.

Sebeng was a highly regarded actor in South Africa, boasting nearly two decades of experience in the industry. He began his acting career as a child, making his television debut at the age of 12.

His notable roles included appearances in TV dramas like “Justice For All” and “Zero Tolerance,” both of which received multiple awards. Additionally, he portrayed a character in the 2011 film “Winnie,” depicting the life of the late Winnie Mandela.

Sebeng’s talent earned him a nomination for Best Male Actor in a telenovela at the 2018 South African Film and Television Awards. He also showcased his skills in popular Netflix shows such as “Savage Beauty” and “Miseducation.”

Fellow actor Zola Hashatsi expressed his profound sadness over Sebeng’s passing, highlighting their close bond and the impact of his talent.

The state broadcaster SABC shared its condolences, acknowledging Sebeng’s significant contributions to the entertainment industry.

“His immense contribution to the entertainment industry will never be forgotten,” stated SABC.

“Rest in peace, Mpho Sebeng,” expressed Netflix South Africa on social media, honoring the actor’s legacy.
