The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the passing of veteran Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her colleague, Stanley Ontop, in an emotional Instagram post on Friday.
Expressing his grief, he wrote, “Nollywood is in tears as we lose one of our vibrant actresses, Nkechi Nweje, after a brief illness. I couldn’t bring myself to post this earlier because it felt unreal. She always called to advise me, and our last conversation was during the Queeneth saga. I’m still speechless. Rest in peace, ma’am.”
Following the announcement, several Nollywood stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late actress, remembering her for her contributions to the industry and the warmth she shared with those around her.
Segun Arinze Addresses Health Rumors
In another development, Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has dismissed online rumors suggesting he is unwell and in need of financial support.
Speculation arose after images of the actor looking frail with a swollen stomach surfaced on social media, sparking concerns about his health.
However, in a video shared on Instagram, Arinze reassured fans that he is perfectly fine. He clarified that the viral images were taken on a movie set and do not reflect his actual health condition.
Expressing gratitude to those who reached out with calls and messages, the veteran actor also warned against scams, urging the public not to send money to anyone claiming to be collecting donations on his behalf.
