Kenya’s Independent Police Oversight Authority (Ipoa) announced on Monday that it is investigating two incidents in which police failed to protect private property in Nairobi.
It is also investigating the alleged police shooting that resulted in death and injury in the western city of Kisumu.
Crowds stormed the farm of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family on the outskirts of Nairobi, stealing sheep and felling trees before torching the property.

The invasion continued throughout the day, apparently in retaliation for the second of the opposition protests.
A gas cylinder factory associated with opposition leader Raila Odinga has also been vandalized.
At least one person was killed by police during protests in Kisumu, where demonstrators burned tires and barricaded roads.
Ipoa has urged police to “follow the law in exercising their constitutional function of protecting life and property in accordance with the [police act].”
