Lagos-based blogger Stanley Okoruwa has issued an apology to Nigerian businessman Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, for spreading false allegations about him. Okoruwa had claimed that E-Money was romantically involved with Jennifer Awele, the wife of the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, and insinuated that E-Money played a role in Junior Pope’s death.

In response to these allegations, E-Money took to Instagram to refute the claims, emphasizing that they were disrespectful to the memory of Junior Pope and deeply hurtful to his grieving family. E-Money also vowed to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.

Following this, E-Money filed a petition, leading to Okoruwa’s arrest by the Lagos State Police Command. In a statement, Okoruwa retracted his accusations and admitted that he fabricated the story to gain popularity and increase followers on his social media platforms.

“I made the video to grow my page and had no bad intentions towards E-Money,” Okoruwa confessed. “I did not anticipate the video would go viral. I acknowledge that it was wrong to make such a video, and I regret the escalation it caused. Everything in the video is false. I only wanted to gain attention and perhaps meet E-Money. I sincerely apologize to E-Money and seek his forgiveness. I will not repeat this mistake.”

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated that Okoruwa will face prosecution for allegedly defaming E-Money. “E-Money followed due process by reporting to the police,” Hundeyin said. “The blogger’s actions were criminal in nature, and he will be prosecuted for defamation.”
