Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, famously known as Ayra Starr, recently shared why she’s currently single. According to the 22-year-old singer, her dating standards are exceptionally high, making it challenging for any man to meet her expectations.

Reflecting on her journey to fame, Ayra Starr expressed her gratitude for staying single as her career took off. She highlighted how her busy schedule leaves her with little time for herself, let alone for a relationship.

Ayra shared these insights in a recent interview with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians series. “I’m actually glad I wasn’t dating before I started music. I didn’t know what I was missing out on, so now I have very high standards. If someone can’t meet them, then it’s not going to work out. Plus, I barely have time for myself, talk less of someone else,” she said.

Ayra Starr’s Take on Handling Criticism

Additionally, Ayra Starr recently offered her perspective on dealing with criticism, emphasizing that it doesn’t faze her, given that people have their own issues to handle. Speaking candidly with Dose Society, the “Bloody Samaritan” artist shared that worrying about others’ opinions is often unnecessary.

She observed that many critics have their own struggles, like financial or emotional burdens, and dwelling on their judgments can be a waste of time. “Opinions of others? They really don’t matter,” she explained. “People are going through life. Everyone’s got their hands full. People are hungry and tired. So, stop caring so much about what others think of you.”

Ayra encouraged focusing on self-growth, confidence, and resilience. “Sometimes, you might be overthinking what others think about you, but they’re likely just dealing with their own daily challenges,” she continued.

The singer urged people to embrace self-acceptance and not be afraid to fail. “The world’s full of challenges, so if you’re constantly worried about others’ opinions, you’ll lose time. Focus on yourself. Be confident. Don’t fear the outcome or the possibility of failure. Failing is part of the process, and when you finally succeed, you’ll be so proud of yourself.”

With this positive mindset, Ayra Starr is setting an example for her fans, highlighting the power of resilience and self-belief.
