Work on the National Cathedral has resumed after a period of financial difficulties, board resignations, and other challenges.

The 14.5-acre site adjacent to Ghana’s Parliament House is once again bustling with activity, including the demolition of structures and clearing of trees.

Initial efforts involved the construction of a fence adorned with an artist’s rendition of the cathedral.

Despite setbacks in 2023, a recent video aired by GHOneTV shows renewed construction progress, with the cathedral’s foundation now laid.

The interdenominational Christian church is envisioned as a symbol of national unity, harmony, and spirituality. The project was conceived in 2017 and officially unveiled by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2018.

Upon completion, the cathedral, boasting a seating capacity of 5,000, will feature chapels, a baptistery, a music school, an art gallery, and a Bible museum, marking a significant milestone for Ghana’s 60th anniversary.
