Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by reaching a stunning 900 career goals, earning a nod from Guinness World Records. The record-keeping organization joined the celebration on social media with a GOAT (Greatest of All Time) emoji, underlining Ronaldo’s legendary status in football.

This impressive milestone reinforces Ronaldo’s dominance in both international and club football, putting him ahead of his long-time rival Lionel Messi and other football greats.

Guinness World Records celebrated the achievement on X.com, sharing a BBC Sports tweet that exclaimed, “900 career goals for Cristiano Ronaldo. Incredible. #BBCFootball.”

According to Naija News, Ronaldo scored his 900th goal during Portugal’s UEFA Nations League match against Croatia. The historic goal came in the 34th minute when Ronaldo volleyed in a cross from Nuno Mendes, leading Portugal to a 2-1 victory.

This milestone not only boosted Portugal’s success but also marked a significant achievement in Ronaldo’s career, solidifying his place among the top goal-scorers in football history.

After the match, Ronaldo reflected on his achievement, saying (via Fabrizio Romano): “Reaching 900 goals feels like any other milestone, but only I understand the hard work it took to get here. It’s a unique milestone for me. I don’t break records… they chase me!”

Lionel Messi remains the closest competitor, with a current tally of 838 goals for both club and country.
