Enzo Zidane, the eldest son of football icon Zinedine Zidane, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 29. This decision marks a significant shift in Enzo’s life as he turns his focus toward personal pursuits, including family and investments.
The retirement was confirmed by renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, bringing to a close a decade-long career in which Enzo made 203 appearances, netting 13 goals and contributing 24 assists. While he didn’t quite reach the heights of his legendary father, who won the FIFA World Cup and countless trophies with Real Madrid and Juventus, Enzo’s journey in football has been uniquely his own.
Starting with Real Madrid Castilla, Enzo’s career took him through various clubs, including Alavés, Lausanne, Rayo Majadahonda, Aves, Almería, and Rodez Aveyron, ultimately concluding at Fuenlabrada, where he played 29 matches. One of his standout moments came during his debut for Real Madrid’s senior team, where he scored in a commanding 6-1 Copa del Rey victory against Cultural Leonesa.
While Enzo steps away from the pitch, his brothers continue to pursue their football dreams. Luca Zidane is currently the starting goalkeeper for Eibar, Theo Zidane plays in midfield for Córdoba, and the youngest sibling, Elyaz Zidane, recently joined the Real Betis academy and represents France at the Under-17 level. As Enzo embarks on this new chapter, his family’s legacy in football remains strong.
