Gabriel Heinze Joins Arsenal’s First-Team Coaching Setup
Arsenal has officially welcomed Gabriel Heinze to its men’s first-team coaching staff, marking a bold new chapter ahead of the 2025–26 season.
A seasoned former international defender, Heinze brings with him an impressive track record both as a player and a coach. His career on the pitch saw him represent some of Europe’s elite clubs—Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Marseille. He also made over 70 appearances for Argentina, taking part in multiple World Cups and earning a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics.
At 47, Heinze steps into a pivotal role under head coach Mikel Arteta, offering tactical insight and leadership as the Gunners gear up for a competitive campaign across multiple fronts. The Argentine’s coaching resume includes stints with top Argentine clubs like Vélez Sarsfield and Argentinos Juniors, as well as a tenure in the MLS with Atlanta United. Most recently, he returned to his roots to manage Newell’s Old Boys, the club where it all began.
Known for his high standards, disciplined training style, and defensive expertise, Heinze is expected to inject fresh perspective into Arsenal’s technical setup. His appointment also reunites him with Arteta—two decades after they briefly shared the pitch at PSG.
As Arsenal looks to build on recent momentum and chase silverware in the upcoming season, Heinze’s arrival underscores the club’s ambition and commitment to growth.
